WOLF//OVERRIDE

Start here

Your quick guide to playing WOLF//OVERRIDE, a story-driven sci-fi horror adventure in development.

Play the engineer. Get through THE DEN with WOLF. Explore a side-view facility, solve a path forward, and choose how you respond to an independent robotic companion.

The current source chapter has two rooms, an opening scene, a cooperation or manual door puzzle, a remembered disagreement, and checkpoints. Downloads are coming soon. This website is the guide; the game runs locally in Godot.

Start playing

  1. Follow development setup to get the source and Godot 4.7.2.

  2. From the repository root, launch the imported project:

    godot --path apps/game
  3. Choose New Game. Advance the opening at your pace, then follow the movement and interaction prompts.

The opening shows WOLF and the Director before the engineer enters. E advances a beat; Esc skips the opening. These are default keys; Controls and settings explains rebinding and controller/touch input.

Your first goal

Restore power and open the sealed maintenance door. Read the station labels and the nearby interaction prompt. Objective cards appear briefly when your goal changes.

WOLF can help or refuse. You keep control of the engineer, and a manual route lets you continue if he declines. A choice you make in the corridor is remembered later.

Stuck? The optional chapter walkthrough shows each station and both puzzle paths. It reveals solutions for the current source chapter only.

Save your progress

Use the green SAFE POINT beyond the door. Continue on the title screen resumes a valid checkpoint without replaying the opening.

Returning to the title keeps your checkpoint and loses progress made since that save. New Game starts a fresh run; the old checkpoint remains until the new run saves over it. There is currently one checkpoint file, not multiple save slots.

What to expect

Characters and environments use provisional artwork. Final animation, sound, the wider campaign, and release packages are still in development. The current chapter is a small beginning, and its puzzles do not select a campaign ending.

For what has actually been tested—including the limits of controller, touch, and simulator checks—see development status.
